Our annual fundraiser is an opportunity for individuals, corporations, and organizations to support the Maya Angelou Schools and celebrate the accomplishments of the students, staff, and partners who make the Maya Way possible.
Many of our students enter our schools performing several grade levels behind, and they may also be struggling with the affects of poverty and violence in our communities; but they overcome these challenges and transition to college, career, and a lifetime of success at a rate that is twice the national average! Our students are our “heroes and sheroes” and we refer to our transformative program as, the Maya Way!
Join us as we present Maya Way awards to national leaders and local heroes and sheroes who exemplify the vision, service, compassion, and strength of our school’s namesake, Dr. Maya Angelou. This year’s honorees are:
The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation
Maya Way, Leadership
Howard University
Maya Way, Community Service
Jack Davies, Board Member, See Forever Foundation
Co-Chair, Maya Angelou Schools Campaign for the Future
Maya Way, Philanthropy
Students and Staff of the Maya Angelou Schools
Campus Heroes and Sheroes
Each year, the See Forever Foundation—the nonprofit organization that manages and supports the Maya Angelou Schools—hosts a fundraiser in support of the school’s important educational program and wraparound services for at-risk students. To find out how you can support the work of Dr. Angelou’s flagship school, contact our Development Director Ingrid Padgett via telephone at (202) 797-8250, or e-mail at ipadgett@seeforever.org.
